Rhythmic Pathway: Music for Family Connection
Introducing Rhythmic Pathways: Music for Family Connection, an initiative made possible by generous funding from the Van Beuren Charitable Foundation. We are dedicated to increasing access to music therapy services to 20 substance-exposed newborns and their caregivers and families, with a special focus serving those in Newport County. Participation in this program is completely free for eligible participants.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Rhythmic Pathways: Music for Family Connection program, the following criteria are considered:

Age: Newborns 0 to 3

Substance Exposure: Newborns exposed to substances prenatally (including opioids, alcohol, or other substances)

Geographical Location: Priority given to Newport County residents. Neighboring areas may be considered.

Referrals: Families can be referred by Early Intervention facilities, Newport Hospital, Parent Support Network and pediatricians.
Treatment Approach
Our client-centered and evidence-based treatment approach includes:

Assessment: Individualized assessment of newborns and caregivers, leading to personalized treatment plans and music preferences

Individual Music Therapy Sessions: Four sessions with a qualified Music Therapist in the comfort of client home, focusing on emotional regulation, bonding, and communication

Group Music Therapy Sessions: Eight-week group session led by a music therapist and Developmental Specialist, providing training, support, and education

Final Video Project: Video compilation showcasing program
