Nicole O'Malley MA MT-BC NMT/F LPMT

Executive Director/President/Board Member

Nicole O'Malley founded Hands in Harmony in 2003 after receiving her BM in Music Therapy from Anna Maria College. She completed training in Neurologic Music Therapy in 2007 and her Fellowship in Neurologic Music Therapy in 2016. Nicole received her MA in music therapy through Berklee college of music focusing on researching the neurobiology of the role of music in the stress and relaxation response.  Nicole received level 1 NICU training in 2017.  She serves as the chair of the Government Relations Committee for the New England Region American Music Therapy Association and chair of the music therapy task force of Rhode Island throughout the passing of the music therapy licensure in RI.


Kristi Rood, MA MT-BC NMT LPMT

Licensed Board Certified Music Therapist

Kristi Rood joined the Hands in Harmony team 8 years ago. Kristi completed her MA in Music Therapy from the University of New York, specializing in Early Intervention and completed her NMT training. She is Level One certified in Guided Imagery (GIM) and received level 1 NICU training in 2017


Licensed Board-Certified Music Therapist

Beth Katz joined the Hands in Harmony team in September 2019. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance, and pursued her Master’s in Music Therapy from Augsburg University. Beth completed her clinical internship at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown, MA, while also earning her Neurologic Music Therapy certification in 2018. She specializes in working with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries and strokes, as well as individuals with disorders of consciousness, developmental disabilities, neurological disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Jeniris Garay, EdM, MT-BC NMT LPMT

Licensed Board-Certified Music Therapist

Jeniris Garay is a licensed, board certified music therapist and clinical educator with a passion for humanitarian work. She completed her master's degree in Human Development and Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her bachelor's degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology at Berklee College of Music. She also has specialized training as a Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Music Therapist (NICU MT). Aside from training students in a variety of clinical settings, Jeniris has over 7 years of experience working with individuals experiencing intellectual, developmental, behavioral and physical health needs including prematurity, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia, and bone marrow transplant. Fluent in 4 languages and proficient in over 10 musical instruments, she has pioneered international service learning trips and presented at numerous conferences across the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. Currently, Jeniris is excited to be part of the Hands in Harmony team serving clients and facilities across Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. She looks forward to leading more global service learning projects, particularly within the context of natural disasters and social justice, as well as supporting the University of Rhode Island in the development of their first music therapy degree beginning in the fall of 2020.

Anthony Kaseoru, MS MT-BC NMT LPMT

Licensed Board Certified Music Therapist

Anthony Kaseoru joined Hands in Harmony in Fall 2020. He completed Radford University’s graduate program in Music Therapy in Fall 2020 after completing his internship at VCU Health in Richmond, VA. He received his BA from Johnson State College in Classical Vocal Performance and Psychology in 2009. Anthony has clinical experience in a variety of educational, medical, and residential settings, and is most passionate about the role of music therapy in early-childhood development and in hospice & palliative care. Anthony has presented  at regional, national, and international music therapy conferences, presenting on his clinical collaboration with speech language pathology students providing services and care-giver education to families of children with speech disorders. In 2019 Anthony attended an international training titled “Challenges in Psychosomatics: A German Perspective in Music Therapy” in Heidelberg, Germany and he continues to seek opportunities to learn from and collaborate with Music Therapists around the world. Anthony has completed the Level II training for the Bonney Method of Guided Imagery & Music and published his thesis on a mixed-methods comparison of inductions used for Music & Imagery experiences. Anthony received his Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) training in 2021. Anthony looks forward to continuing his professional education by seeking additional training in NMT, NICU, and Bonney GIM methods. 

Katie Little

Chief Operating Officer/Office Manager

Katie joined the Hands in Harmony team 8 years ago as the Office Manager. Katie studied education at Wheelock College and worked as a behavioral specialist for over 10 years. She oversees day-to-day operations and administration. 

Richard Boucher

Director of Finance/Board Member

Richard has been volunteering with Hands in Harmony for 4 years. He has been the Treasurer of NEACT for 10 years, and the Treasurer of Whitinsville Fish and Game Club for 5 years. Richard is an Adjunct Professor at Fitchburg State University and has taught chemistry for 17 years in addition to being a Chemical Engineer for 17 years.
